Senior Software Engineer Position at ShoreTel

Posted by Dennis Davis at 2008-05-07 13:43
We are seeking a senior software engineer to develop, enhance ShoreTel’s browser-based system management application. Must be a smart, versatile generalist that will be effective meeting schedule and quality requirements for 99.999% uptime in telecom.

The management application has complex validation rules, with dozens of screens, over 100 database tables, and over 1000 SQL queries. This area also includes call detail reporting for millions of records, and aggregating real-time status for thousands of endpoints.

Multi-frame navigation, wizard/tabs, and AJAX tables are required. Architectural skills to guide the conversion are important, but excellent hands-on coding ability is a must.

This is a permanent full-time position in Sunnyvale, CA. Will also consider an on-site consultant, but the scope of the project precludes remote development.

Job Requirements:
- Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years experience developing bulletproof forms-based Web applications. Must have interest and aptitude for delivering reliable, high-performance products in distributed systems with imperfect networks.
- Strong Python knowledge, with the ability to gently mentor team in Python "best practices".
- Excellent problem solving using Computer Science fundamentals, data structures and algorithms.
- Good understanding of SQL and schema design. Distributed database, replication, query optimization, stored procedures, and triggers desirable.
- Desirable: General C++ expertise including object-oriented design, templates, STL, and exceptions.
- Desirable: Windows ASP, ADO, COM, COM+, ATL, Win32 API.
- Desirable: Report design using tools such as Crystal Reports.
